Boscoe Holder
(1921 – 2007)
Semi Nude Profile
c. 1995
Acrylic
30 x 24″
This beautiful Semi Nude Profile came from The B. H. Rose family. B. H. Rose has been a family-established business since 1935.
The company dominated the interior business in Trinidad and Tobago with its quality home products for many years.
The B.H. The Rose family generously allowed artists to display their artworks in their establishment before the emergence of commercial Art Galleries, and it is one such show late in the 1970s that the business owners acquired this piece.
Being unsigned is quite usual for Boscoe’s works; his several one man show with us at The 101 Art Gallery from 1999 until 2007 included about half the works being unsigned, and upon his death when we took over his studio, some 60% of the works were unsigned. The work IS the signature, no one can accomplish this like Boscoe can.
This work is accompanied by a 101 Art Gallery letterhead receipt, valuation, and certificate of authenticity, and additionally, a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist’s son Christian Holder.
